    Evening Standard Says…

This place is fun, and they deliver it in spades. They've kitted the bar out nicely, with a very respectable array of spirits and a cracking selection of craft beer, so it's little suprise the place gets packed early, and stays filled late into the night. Come to eat lots of pizza, drink plenty, and then dance to whoever’s on that night. Later, head downstairs and dance a little more, where the vibe is a tad more clubby. Old Street is loud – your witty conversation is going to get swallowed up by the speakers – so come along and be equally loud too. On a more serious note, it's honestly a relief to see a new live music venue: the slow death of them around the capital is nothing short of depressing.

Expect a well-thought out and themed interior, with a music roster spanning EP launches, new bands and establish acts. Head downstairs to their basement space, for intimate jazz nights, heady DJ sessions, and all manner of live music goodness, all hosted from their secret hideaway beneath the streets of Shoreditch. Alongside bespoke cocktails and a varied drinks menu, guests of Old Street Records can also chow down on tasty, authentic Italian pizzas alongside the music. Keep an eye on their event listings for up-to-date info on their latest line-up offerings.

Live music and DJs keep the place buzzing, with tunes blasting out in the cosier basement space, too. It’s all secured the venue its status as a spot for group gatherings – as a three, we were the smallest table there. Two-for-one offers on a sprawling cocktail list and deals on a small range of pizzas pushes Old Street Records fully into party territory. A smoked pineapple punch proved an uplifting cocktail choice, although other drinks we sampled were a little shaky.
