    Time Out Says…

    Tempting starters include sliced heritage beetroot, burratina and walnuts, glazed ox cheek and house gravadlax. Mains feature the inevitable reindeer, potato and sage dumplings, and Swedish meatballs, pink in the middle and flounced on a bed of homemade pasta... if you still hanker for a beer at the old ‘Arms’, the smokers’ area at the back has been transformed into a swish, enclosed bar area. We’ll cheers – or rather, skål – to that.

    t still looks pretty pub-like, mind you, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Nice plump seats, medium-low lighting, bar and walls in real-ale brown. They have a fancier-looking room round the back, full of candelabra and house plants, but the night we went everyone was eating in the bar area, and actually I think I preferred that... On the whole, though, The Harcourt is really good. Relaxed atmosphere, decent wines, tasty reindeer, delicious fish.

    Ask the genetically blessed staff for wine pairings from the largely organic list; for something stronger, order from the impressive collection of Scandinavian spirits. The bright and breezy Garden Room is the perfect spot for an aperitif: the Freudian Slip is a prosecco-based tipple with akvavit (a caraway-flavoured spirit). During the day, fika (the Swedish ritual of coffee and cake) is served here.
