    Deptford has definitely been on the one-to-watch list for a while now, and has been getting all sorts of new foodie openings. Next up, it’ll be welcoming wine, European food and charcuterie thanks to the arrival of The Winemakers Club’s second shop, which has migrated quite a distance from the first shop’s base in Farringdon.

    The City’s full of ghastly wine bar chains, lacking charm or personality, right? Wrong! But it does lack independently-run venues with personal service and simple ambience. If this is what you’re yearning for, try The Winemakers Club. It occupies musty archways below Holborn Viaduct, and is empty apart from owner John Baum and a few hundred of his favourite wines.

    London on the Inside Says…

    The Winemakers Club started out as a shop and bar in the very dramatic arches of Holborn Viaduct but their latest move is Winemakers Deptford, a cosy little wine bar and restaurant which took the space of one of Deptford’s many Vietnamese restaurants. Marcella, a new Italian from the owners of Artusi in Peckham has just opened a few doors down too, so Deptford is finally having its day it seems.
