    Square Meal Says…

    Fans of seasonal, refined cooking will be happy at Ellory. Although founding chef Matthew Young has moved on, his sous chef Sam Kamienko has now taken charge, while the restaurant is owned by its sommelier Jack Lewens (The River Café, Quo Vadis) and Ed Thaw (who also runs Sager + Widle). This simple box of a room by creative warehouse space Netil House (near Broadway Market) can accommodate 48 diners under bare light bulbs, with an open kitchen providing entertainment.

    London on the Inside Says…

    If like us you were gutted when Mayfields closed down then you might be interested in this news. The previous head chef Matthew Young has joined forces with Sommelier Jack Lewens, to open Ellory a new bistro just up the road from Mayfields at Netil House. Opening at the end of November the menu will feature small dishes as well as a daily set menu topped off with perfectly matched wines. Expect the likes of turbot, chestnuts and pumpkin and chicken, chicory and carrot to feature on their opening menu. With a relaxed feel and some of the best vino in town, we’re pretty damn sure Ellory is not gonna dissapoint.

    This modern bistro is a joint venture from chef Matthew Young, formerly of Pimlico hit Mayfields (now closed), and ex-Spring sommelier Jack Lewens. ‘It wasn’t that generous, was it?’ whispered my friend as I approached. ‘And,’ added his girlfriend, leaning in conspiratorially, ‘we’re a bit chilly.’ ‘The pudding is excellent,’ 
I countered brightly, before leaving.
