    Time Out Says…

Fox Bar – a cool cocktail spot attached to the new Brixton branch of Chicken Shop – is somewhat elusive. I was surprised to find it in what appeared to be an apartment complex, its entrance well hidden from the street. Descending one floor, we entered to find the noise of merry punters in a narrow, darkened room; not, thank god, someone’s private house party. This is a new venture from the Soho House group, but the crowd were young, cool Brixtonites rather than jaded media types. A couple of large groups drifted in and out for foosball tournaments (there’s a table by the entrance), but the room was mostly made up of couples and post-dinner drinkers, appreciating the low lighting and New York apartment aesthetic.

Soho House & Co is coming to Brixton as it prepares to launch a south London version of its popular Chicago late night drinking concept Fox Bar. The basement space will be housed within Piano House close to the Tube station, and will form part of a complex that also includes a Chicken Shop and Dirty Burger. Whereas the stateside version is inspired by British boozers this London version will be very different, taking its cue from the taverns of Chicago and New Orleans. It will feature foosball tournaments along with chicken wings and will specialise in cocktails, with both martinis and espresso martinis available on tap.
