Groups filled every table and bodies huddled around a huge, sweeping bar – a hub of bottles and bustle in the centre of a magnificent warehouse-style room...The drinks menu is extensive and impressive with inventive takes on classic cocktails, a great selection of wine on tap, and a fine choice of absinthe, which they serve in the classic French style. Evenings at Canova Hall mirror Brixton’s life and soul as cocktail trolleys offer gin and all the accompaniments for making your own drinks. If you'd prefer to be waited on you can ‘Book a Bartender’ and they will conjure up a mix of creative cocktails for you at your table as young London DJ’s and live bands play music into the early hours. Designed by Red Deer with a strong influence on the building’s history, utilitarian Edwardian detailing and indications of faded Art Deco frame a blue collar bustle met with inspirations of the world’s most authentic food halls and markets; San Telmo in Buenos Aires, Mercado San Miguel in Madrid and the Boqueria of Barcelona. The venue’s narrative compliments the day-time, relaxed workspace environment offering hot-desking, fast Wi-Fi and great coffee.

    Evening Standard Says…

Over in Hackney, Martello Hall made its mark with a fail safe combo of wine on tap and plenty of pizza. This, the team’s second opening, offers more of the same and that’s absolutely no bad thing. They’ve homemade pizza, homemade pasta and they even distill their own gin on site. In the day, it’s relaxed, bright, full of creative types. At night, things get louder, busier, more fun. Expect DJs and live bands, be sure to hail the cocktail trolley and, if you’re splashing out or just always want your next drink right this second, book up your own bartender.
