Iberica Farringdon is the latest contender to the Smithfield Market area’s well-populated food scene. There’s a delicatessen at the front with take-out churros and hot chocolates – but take a seat and experience the à la carte menu’s zesty creations that centre largely on ham types: try the 45 month-wild cured pork, or the cured meats and cheese combos – great talking points if you’re after something new. We’re all over the 16 month-cured Serrano ham. Also brand new for Farringdon is a reduced bar menu with lighter bites, perfect to accompany a late-night cocktail or two.

Their trademark cocktails and gin-tonics are as refreshing on a hot day as a fountaining hydrant...the staff as charming; the food, a mix of traditional tapas (patatas bravas) and dishes zhuzhed by Manzana's creativity (corn torto fritter with pungent Cabrales cheese and scrambled egg), as fine as before. Those acorn-fed hams, properly kept, are still unmissable, to be devoured with pan con tomate, good bread laden with a glorious mush of pulped tomato, olive oil and salt.

Spanish restaurant Iberica has opened it’s doors in Farringdon and it’s pretty bloody nice. As well as serving up a menu of authentic Spanish dishes, there’s sangria, cocktails, vino and the decors not bad either...kick things right off with the cured meat and cheeses, the jamon iberico is the daddy-o of the charcuterie and shouldn’t be missed. Other highlights included the suckling pig, perfectly cooked, tender meat full of flavour with a light, crunchy crackling. Then there’s the serrano ham croquettes, crispy parcels of creamy potato and highly addictive.
