It’s not the kind of place you’d head to in order to laze over the morning papers but the setting is magnificent, the food good and the people watching perfect...A better than average selection of wines shows that this place doesn’t want to miss out on the bulging wallets around these parts, with bottles of Krug, Bollie and Dom Perignon stacked alongside some cracking wines. Cocktails (the Espresso Martini is pretty good) are all £10.
To make yourself heard, seek out the kinder acoustics of the plush mezzanine gallery. Cocktails (£10.75) include Green Summer (Pampero rum, cantaloupe, mint and Midori) and an espresso and breakfast Martini. Wine starts at less than £20, though there’s also seal-a-deal fizz at either side of £100 – perfect when matched with something glistening from the crustacean bar.
The Royal Exchange Grande Cafe in London is a spectacular bar to have a drink at or enjoy a memorable dinner...Enjoy drinks in the light and airy courtyard, perfect for people watching, surrounded by imposing columns and arches; or book a table above in the chic Mezzanine Lounge for gorgeous cocktails and nibbles.
