View London Says...
During the day, you get delicious, expertly made, freshly ground coffees for a reasonable price. While at night, the venue has recently employed a couple of mixologists and bar members to serve wines, beer and cocktails. The classic San Francisco drink Tommy's Margarita is the perfect tipple to start the night – and this one is made rather well. Yes, a coffee shop that serves cocktails is typically trendy and very east London. But try the coffee by day and cocktails by night and The Shoreditch Grind may become your one-stop shop.
Take a seat at one of the stools facing out and watch what seems like most of East London pass you by, day or night. The Cocktail list is short but our Shoreditch Grind Espresso Martini was perfect and go for the cheese platter to munch on, not your classic pairing, but we liked it. They also have a couple of Australian beers, wine and Prosecco should you want something a little more laid back.
What do you mean, it’s just a coffee bar? Venture in a little bit past espresso hours and you’ll find different shots being poured, as Shoreditch Grind doubles up as a cocktail bar. The black beans are still at the centre of the show, along with a few classics and a great selection of plates. With a few slices of cured meats and a bruschetta or two, perch yourself on a window stool to sip while you watch Old Street unfolding before your eyes.
