    This isn’t a game-changer, it’s just completely enjoyable, straightaway the restaurant I’d choose to go to above all others in London...The drinking here is excellent all round, by the way, with well-chosen Italian wines at fair prices, starting with excellent house Garganega or Corvina at £18 a bottle.

    You know, the place that closed in 2012 because it was too tiny to fit in everyone who wanted to eat there. Well by an uncanny twist of fate, it’s back. Only this time it’s set out over two floors, sporting a look that's in equal parts rustic and industrial, and featuring both an Aperitivo Bar on the ground floor and an open kitchen downstairs. All of which, somewhat confusingly, means that the “good ol’ days” are actually happening right now...

    As we set about an excellent pinot grigio, from a short and fairly priced list in which most wines come in 250ml and 500ml carafes as well as bottles, there arrived a dish of simple majesty. Soft shell crab, a steal at £9 for such a generous serving, had been fried in Parmesan batter to an absurdly crisp and light finish, and was paired with a zinging fennel salad that beautifully drew out the subtle taste of the crabmeat.
