Insider Information
To make a reservation at The Clove Club you must purchase tickets. The price of one ticket for dinner is for their 5 course tasting menu. For lunch guests are able to book tickets with payment made after the meal.

    There will always be reactionary types who'll hate the Clove Club, its tablecloth-free lack of schmooze, the "tyranny" of the no-choice menu. Their loss. I wouldn't have ordered "smoked wild Irish char, sour cream & rye" if I'd seen it on a menu, but it's a joy, its crispbread wafer-thin and almost buttery, the fish fondant-soft, clean, sweet and subtly smoky. Sometimes it's nice to be led by the nose. I'm glad I ditched my small-minded, leek-fuelled preconceptions and went.

    Two chunks of buttermilk-fried chicken with pine salt. Super-soft inside, crisp exterior and that faintly cleansing hint of pine. This last element is the best – it's no surprise to hear that it's a hit on the bar menu...Rib of beef with dots of ransom purée and neat potato "cigars" is a stand-out. The meat is fab, the chew of an outside-y bit of the roast on one side of each slice, the deepest pink tenderness on the other. The spuds are crisp and scrumptious.

    Square Meal Says…

    Thin, silky raw scallop with crunchy hazelnut, clementine and Périgord truffle makes a heavenly follow-up, before dishes starring pollock and venison. Unlisted extras keep arriving, our favourite being a glass rinsed with 1908 Madeira and topped with duck consommé. A dessert of subtle pepper ice cream topped with a carbonated lemon mousse is zingy, fizzy, delightful. To accompany, we’d recommend the wine-pairing option. Food of such quality deserves it.
