Once an electricity showrooms (hence the name, duh) the best way to get lit up now is with a glass of Camden Ink, perhaps, or Brooklyn Lager. Camden’s Pale Ale and Wheat are also on keg while your cask options might include something from Thornbridge, Dark Star or Oakham. There’s also plenty of decent stuff in the fridges, including Flying Dog’s Old Scratch lager and BrewDog’s Punk IPA in a can.Read more…

It hasn't changed much in the past five years — bold and brash with plenty of quiet corners — but we wouldn't want it to...Drinks choice in the main bar is keg-heavy, and favouring lager fans, but the pub also stocks one or two guest ales on draught. The food menu is fairly playful, with such temptations as 5 pepper squid and crab fries, plus a neat sliders menu.

There are two handpumps, often dispensing London beers from the likes of East London and Redemption, and at least 11 keg taps with decent brews, including several from local brewers Camden Town and London Fields, Thornbridge Jaipur plus Paulaner and Erdinger from Germany. Around a dozen bottles include entries from Dark Star and Icelandic brewer Einstöck...Don’t be put off by the legacy of its too-cool past – Electricity Showrooms turns out to be a tried and tested purveyor of quality drinks in an area where chain bars now jostle with fly-by-nights still in search of an identity.Read more…
