Camino Bankside is the newest member to the Camino family, tucked away behind the Tate Modern on London’s Bankside. Full of natural light by day, and softly lit for an intimate mood by night, it makes a beautiful space whatever the occasion. Opening onto a large outdoor terrace it’s also perfect for a drink or two on long summer evenings, nestled in between the olive trees and floor standing lanterns.

Choose from pan roasted octopus tentacle with purple potatoes or black rice with cuttlefish, squid ink and alioli, and there’s a typically wide range of artisan cheeses. Occupying pride of place is the jamon counter, where you can watch the ‘cortador de jamon’ exercise his skill over the acorn-fed Iberico black pig ham – cured for no less that 32 months. The bar serves Spanish craft beers as well as Madrid’s premium lager, Mahou, on draught, and a full Spanish brunch is available at weekends.

The life and soul of España oozes from every pore of this reliable mini-chain, which promises genuine vibes, gutsy food and authentic drinks. Camino is Spanish for ‘road' and the tapas menu here roams the country's regions – think platters of artisan charcuterie, Mallorcan cheese fritters with tomato jam, or potted crab with ‘chapata’ bread. Imbibing is taken seriously, too, with sherries aplenty and wines from a long list of bodegas, plus jugs of sangria, beers and zingy cocktails. A Spanish brunch menu for the weekends is promised for this Southbank location, which is billed as a more casual tapas bar and includes an open kitchen, takeaway jamón counter and large outdoor terrace.
