Don’t be fooled by its name: the Stoke Newington Tea House is not a teahouse. It’s actually a pub, near Clissold Park, that serves booze and roasts and also speciality tea. In fact, when we headed down on a Sunday afternoon, we were the only people in the joint with teapots on our table. Everyone else was boozing and tucking into Sunday roasts. It’s a new concept from the Yummy Pub Co., who do pubs differently. The intimacy of the ‘pub’ is retained by cosy booths and warm tones, but waiter service replaces the need for a bar. Daily-baked bread and all-day brunches and British tapas are available to complement the tea. The London School of Tea, run by the London specialist Lucy Chappell, will open soon above the pub, with workshops and advice on the latest tea trends.Read more…
