With two bars and an open kitchen, Head Chef David Green, previously of Soho House Group, focuses on small plates, the grill and comfort dishes all to be enjoyed in one of the restaurant’s Kitchen Pods, an intimate way for big groups to dine. If you fancy a lighter bite, the deli will be stocked with charcuterie and cheese. As the night rolls on, cocktails by Jay Newell (Sushisamba) can be supped on in the ‘Library’, full of luxurious leathers and polished woods; or below, in a wider bar setting full of exposed metalwork and plenty of fluid space for socialising.Read more…

Drake & Morgan’s huge site at King’s Cross is overwhelmingly large, which never inspires confidence: the worry is it’ll be empty, or that all the cocktails will come out rushed as nervy barmen battle sweaty businessmen waving their contactless cards. Happily, neither was true here: the cocktails were all finely made, given enough time, and the bar was merry with groups of friends and colleagues. There’s also a terrace, complete with blankets and hot water bottles for year-round revelry.
