The neon-lit restaurant on Bethnal Green Road is the newest and far more fun sister to the Kensington original and touristy Carnaby branch. Go towards the end of the week for live music and an education in hip hop that spans its funk and soul roots to the Golden Age. Still delicate from the night before? There is no more satisfying a Bloody Mary than the one here, served with a rim of sour cream Pringles. The New York style diner in Bethnal Green Road has high ceilings, white distressed wooden panels and the impression of peeling white paint on the wall. You can imagine the heavy patterns and colours it might have had in its previous incarnation as an East End boozer a few decades ago - but its embossed wallpaper has now been painted white, there’s plush purple velvet seating and the general feel now is elegant and spacious. Some of the millenials were probably making the most of the Boozy Brunch flight deal – where you choose four alcoholic drinks from a Lexy cocktail, Dirty Mary, spiked iced coffee or prosecco for £19.
