The menu is made up of classics, twists on classics and a couple of specials – the Demon and Wise are both loaded with premium spirits and that little bit more spenny as a result. There’s only a 100 of each recipe and then they’re onto the next so get down while you can to give each one a try.
Good for a mid-week tipple with a serious spirit lover. Being a City bar, this place is Monday-Friday only and you’ll want to go with someone knowledgeable to really appreciate the goods on offer. If you know a whiskey-drinker, this would be a perfect birthday treat – just make sure you book a table.
The real appeal comes from the cocktails, with drops ranging from kir blanc royales and juleps a la vamp to a market maker (Portobello Road No. 171 gin with Arbitrager tonic syrup, grapefruit and brut Champagne from René Geoffroy) and a Planter's Punch made from a recipe torn from the New York Times on August 8, 1908.
