View London Says...
The addition of a cool cocktail floor that bows down to Brooklyn aesthetic trends and absorbs London mixology talent really brings Smiths of Smithfield up to date. With Smithfield fast becoming a foodie spot for London and with plenty of competition coming to the area, the arrival here of a stylish drinking lounge seems right on cue.
Where better to have a steak house than in London’s ancient Smithfield market? The huge industrial space, with casual dining at entry level becomes grander as diners move up the building...Throughout the building expect no compromise on service, a decent wine list (and great cocktails in the bar) and a casual, jovial atmosphere.
The 70 strong whisky collection was an impressive treasure chest of bourbon, Scotch, Japanese whisky and single malts. For those who prefer something softer, there is also plenty on offer. With classic and signature cocktails (£7.50), a great selection of bottled beers and ciders and wines (£17.95). The food is the final piece in a very enjoyable puzzle. Particular highlights were the Orkney Scallops, Black Pudding, Lardo di Colonnata, Cauliflower (£14); and the 8oz Hereford Sirloin - 38 days dry aged on the bone (£30).
