Design My Night Says...

Taking influences from the Italian countryside, a rustic wooden table laden with olives, oils and bread was in the centre of the room. Next to it, there was a traditional meat slicer and halving the room in true Searcys style, a towering wine rack... Osteria have honoured the great Italian adoration of food with a menu of antipasti, meat, fish and risottos. Dorset Crab Ravioli (£13) was three fat pasta parcels stuffed with fresh meat and covered in a mascarpone sauce that was plate-lickingly good. Cornish Mackeral Crudo (£7.50) was a fresh, sea-salty plate of raw fish flavoured with poached quince.

Time Out Says...

The real highlight is the view, though. Bag a window seat at night and you’re treated to lights twinkling off inky black water features and dramatic close-ups of skyscrapers. The Italian fare’s elegantly presented, simply cooked (unsurprising given that the head chef used to run Arbutus). Think saddle of rabbit draped with endives that look as though a fretting chef had anguished over how best to delicately manicure them into position. Highlights: a soft-poached egg wobbling delicately atop al dente asparagus and aromatic pumpkin-seed-studded pearl barley.

Just Opened London Says...

In true Italian style, there will be an abundance of sharing plates, including Grilled Octopus, potatoes and peppers, and generous mains. We’re particularly tempted by the Suckling Pig with Sage Potatoes and Slow cooked beef polenta and roast onions. The drinks menu features all the usual Italian classics, but it’s the variations on these classics that caught our eye, such as the autumnal mulled cider syrup and fig vodka Bellini.
