The Nudge Says...
Of particular interest to Londoners should be the Zetter Townhouse Bar, a cocktail lounge accessed through a discreet entrance on St John's Square, which has already come to be regarded - thanks to Tony The Man Conigliaro - as one of London's best cocktail bars. The cocktail lounge is, as they describe it, “a sumptuous and intriguing place. Packed with curios and oddities, it is a den of lived in luxury - an ideal hideout for an afternoon of lazy reading, a relaxed working lunch or an evening or riotous revelry”. Couldn't agree more.
This ain’t your average hotel bar, oh no, like everything here its been beautifully thought out and has also won the title of Best Hotel Bar from the 2011 Class Awards. Cue Tony C, one of the best barmen slash cocktail chemists in the world. He’s the brains behind the drinks here, they’re all good, and I promise you will never find drinks like this in a Hilton.
In décor alone the Zetter Townhouse hotel is exceptional: every surface has something old and lovely on it, like an eccentric collector’s country house. The result is one of the most beautiful and unusual bars in London. The short cocktail list was devised by Tony Conigliaro (of 69 Colebrooke Row, Grain Store and Bar Termini), who is known for his experimental techniques and ingredients, but drinks here are fairly simple and restrained. And wonderful.
