10 Best Spots to Drink Wine This Summer

Emma Murphy, LWW Festival Director | 23/06/2016

Emma Murphy tells us the best 10 spots to enjoy a glass or two this summer.

Vinoteca Kings Cross

The biggest of the Vinoteca venues – their Kings Cross location is a winner. There’s a terrace out the front, perfect for overlooking the hustle and bustle of the nearby stations, or if there’s a nip in the air sit inside and bask in the beautiful light coming in from the enormous floor to ceiling windows that make up the vast majority of the building.

Barrafina Drury Lane

Head to the newest Barrafina at Drury Lane and take up a coveted pew on the terrace – order a Hart Brother’s Special Selection sherry, a Manzanilla Pasada en Rama handpicked by the brothers from the finest barrels of aged manzanilla at the Hildago bodegas, and order as much as you can possibly manage from their utterly delicious menu.

The 10 Cases

A truly charming wine bar in the heart of Covent Garden with a smattering of tables on the street – perfect for people watching with a glass of something tasty in hand.

Compagnie des vins Surnaturels

The wine bar from global bar gurus Experimental Group. The bar itself is a triumph, the wine list extensive, and the location in Neal’s Yard with outdoor terrace seating makes it the perfect spot for summer sipping.

Sager & Wilde Paradise Row

With a large front terrace and regular BBQ events this is without doubt the best place in East London to spend a summer afternoon.

Noble Rot pop-up bar at Wilderness festival

Last year’s hottest wine bar opening is popping up at Wilderness, with wines coming from no other than London stalwart Berry Bros & Rudd. Even more excuse to visit the UK’s best foodie boutique festival (as if we needed another one).

Street Vin @ Street Feast Dalston Yard

To steal their motto… because great street food deserves great wine. And there is nowhere better to spend a sunny weekend than London’s best street food market, quietly quaffing the afternoon away.

The Rhone Touch

A wine inspired art exhibition in Kings Cross, this immersive exhibition (21-31 July) has been curated by Côtes du Rhône Wines and London College of Communication students, bringing to life the unique aspects of the region – complete with Côtes du Rhône pop-up bar to keep you from going thirsty.

In The Park

Buy from your local merchant, pack a picnic and enjoy the park while you can… London’s independent merchants are a wealth of knowledge and packed to the rafters of spectacular wines – pack up your picnic basket and head to one of our many glorious parks via a pit stop at the nearest indie.

An English Vineyard

As English Sparkling wine continues to shine take the opportunity to go and taste what all the fuss is about. The English countryside is undoubtedly at its most breath taking in the summer months and many of our vineyards run weekend open days. For a special day out, head to the vineyards of Hampshire festival (July 17th) where you can try wine from seven producers alongside delicious local produce.
