About

Back for 2019 following the sold out events last year, Bar Douro is delighted to announce the forthcoming wine dinners of the “In Conversation With…” series, in collaboration with Portuguese wine expert and writer Sarah Ahmed, a.ka. The Wine Detective.

Welcoming Portuguese winemakers and producers, Bar Douro’s wine dinners dive into detailed tasting of great Portuguese wines, in keeping with a rotating monthly theme and paired with a feast of Bar Douro’s small plates.

Representing different generations of Sogrape's winemaking team, esteemed Chief Winemaker Luis Sottomayor and António Braga, Enological Director of Mateus, Vinhos Verdes and Dão wines, will join Bar Douro for a conversation on the evolution of this dynamic family-owned company's range.  Spanning Mateus Rosé, Portugal's best-known brand, to Barca Velha, its most iconic wine, they shall explore these contrasting bookends, together with contemporary additions to the portfolio.  The evening will conclude with a compare and contrast trio of luscious Sandeman Tawny Ports - the 10-year-old, 20-year-old & 30-year-old.

Hosted in The Wine Cellar at Bar Douro, guests will have the chance to sample wines from each producer, each paired with a selection of Bar Douro’s small plates, such as Croquettes de Alheira, Crab Rissole and Cheese boards.

Tickets are available to book via 020 7378 0524 or [email protected] and include all wine and small plates.
