City Of London Distillery, the very first distillery to open in the London Square Mile for almost 200 years, has teamed with The Shard to bring gin drinkers an unforgettable experience this World Gin Day.
Against the breath-taking backdrop of the City of London and at an altitude of 1,016 feet – making it Europe’s tallest building – visitors to the open-air Skydeck at The Shard will enjoy a masterclass like no other.
Experts from City Of London Distillery will showcase the history of gin through the ages, from the gin craze in Victorian London to the modern age with the rise of flavoured gins. Your journey of discovery will continue by revealing the part martini played; from the Martinez that came before, to more modern expressions such as the Espresso, Pornstar and Vesper Martinis we enjoy today, you’ll also hear stories of gin and learn about recipes previously forgotten.
With all of your new-found knowledge, you’ll enjoy samples of key cocktails from history, and then have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the view with a drink of your choice, available from the City of London Distillery’s pop-up open-air bar, which will have a special G & T and Martini menu in celebration of World Gin Day.
This experience is free but you need to buy a ticket to enter View From The Shard.
