Drink Up In 2017

As ever London is promising a plethora of fantastic drinking festivals and events throughout the year – from summer feasts to winter gin celebrations.

Burns Night

There'll be suppers and celebrations aplenty on January 25th all in honor of that great chieftain of the puddin'-race. Or rather the marvellous poet who penned those words and many, many more. Burns night has become a celebration of all things Scottish as well so prepare to be flung about during the ceilidh dancing and tuck into the meaty banquets. We love the sound of the B&H Burns Night party which includes a whisky tasting session, a five-course banquet, the addressing of the haggis, The Selkirk Grace, and, of course, live ceilidh dancing.

Australia Day Craft Beer Festival

While normally celebrated on the beach with bucket hats, cans of VB and free breakfast pancakes, London's first Australia Day craft beer festival will be a little different to celebrations Down Under. On January 26th Hops and Glory, Randy’s Wing Bar and Pull & Punch will host this incredible party, bringing together eight of Australia's top breweries for a special one-off celebration featuring live music and entertainment, DJ’s, BBQ & grill, delicious Lamingtons, Ozzie sweets and chocolates, and a whole lot of craft beer. The lineup includes Little Creatures, Vale Brewery, Mornington Brewery and Stone & Wood as well as Espresso Martinis and Coffee Liqueur from Australian spirits producer Mr Black.

Gin Festival

Returning to London for its third year, between February 17th-19th, Gin Festival is a fantastic day out for any juniper-lover, with over 100 gins to try, (including new exclusives gins), new brands, cocktails and masterclasses from industry experts. Described in Timeout as one of the "Top 10 things to do in 2016"  Gin Festival is returning to the same location at Tobacco Dock. Tickets went on sale in October so some of the sessions are already sold out, but you can still land a space for just £14 on the Sunday.

Craft Beer Rising

One of the best beer events in London, this year CBR will have 170 breweries showcasing their delicious brews between February 23rd-25th at the Old Truman Brewery. There'll also be live music and delicious street food to accompany all those tasty beers,

London Beer Week

London Beer Week is back for 2017, taking over the city from March 13th-19th. This year things are a little different to the usual DrinkUp.London festival style. We've taken over the whole Oval Space in East London for a three day beer event which celebrates and offers ales, lagers, stouts, meads, hoptails, boilermakers, food and music... basically it's your dream night out. We've also pimped our beer tours - this year they'll be focused on London's best craft breweries and there'll be rickshaws on hand to take you from beer to beer, drinking from the source the whole way. Oh and did we mention it's St Paddy's Day during the week? We've got something very big and beery planned, so stay tuned.

RAW WINE is a totally independent wine fair created that celebrates wines with an authentic expression of a place and the growers whose fundamental farming and cellar philosophies make these living wines possible. Held on the Strand between 12th-13th March, this 2017 fair will be a fantastic event pulling together wine lovers and producers where all tastings are free and many will be avaliable for sale if you've found one you love.

Cocktails in the City

One of London’s greatest cocktail parties, CITC is back from March 30th-1st April in the grandiose One Marylebone, a Grade I listed church just moments from Regent’s Park. From West End to East End in just a few short steps, enjoy twenty-five of the capital’s finest bars with no taxis, no buses and no tube. Tasting tables, cocktail masterclasses, live music and street food vendors come together to create the ultimate cocktail experience. All cocktails at the show are priced at £7.50

London Wine Week

London Wine Week has been moved back a few weeks into June to entice a few more sun rays into coming and enjoying some wine with us! This is a fantastic seven day festival which fills our city with hundreds of different wines, as well as pop-ups, events and even a series of long twilight banquets and long lunches. 2017 will also see the much-loved tours return where festival-goers can visit London's best wine bars and enjoy curated flights of wine and bring a whole new event - The Wine Edit - in east London. The fourth LWW this year will run from 5th-11th June.

World Gin Day

Taking place across the world on June 10th, World Gin Day is a global celebration of all things gin, organised by Gin Monkey! The idea is simple: get people together all around the world with a legitimate excuse (not that we need one) to drink some gin, whether it’s in a cocktail, G&T or neat.

Taste of London

From 14-18 June, Regent’s Park will be transformed into a food-lovers paradise as 55,00 hungry visitors descend upon the World’s Greatest Restaurant Festival. See world-class chefs, taste mouth-watering dishes, sip on fantastic drinks, watch live entertainment, shop amongst artisan producers and more. You'll also be able to get your hands on with interactive masterclasses, demonstrations and a range of complimentary activities including wine, whisky and craft beer tastings.

31 Days of German Riesling

Each July the Wines of Germany celebrate their flagship wine varietal. Love a tasty drop of riesling? Then this is the month for you! Throughout the 31 days London bars host a series of events and put on offers, allowing us all to discover the complex variety within German riesling and enjoy some of its most delicious expressions.

Cocktails in the City

This is the summer edition of CITC, running over 28th and 29th July in the majestic Bedford Square Gardens. The green space is transformed into a cocktail town with pop-up bars and plenty of areas to lounge in the sunshine, drink in hand.

Time Out Market

Last year Time Out let the cat out of the bag and finally unvield they'd be setting up shop in the East End. London’s very own Time Out Market will open at 106 Commercial Street in the second half of 2017 (we've put it under August but it could be later!). The plans include 17 restaurants, a cooking academy, four bars, a shop and an art gallery, with everything picked out, tested and tasted by Time Out.

The Whisky Show

Running over the weekend September 30th to 1st October, this is the UK’s finest and largest whisky festival, bringing distillers and whisky lovers from all over the world together at Old Billingsgate in the heart of London for a truly spectacular food and whisky experience. This year’s theme is The Art of Whisky. Find out more here

London Cocktail Week

Boom! This is the big one, and the cocktail highlight of the year, if we do say so ourselves. LCW 2017 is going to be mega, with new pop-ups, discounted drinks, pairing dinners and some of the biggest and most outlandish parties the city has seen. We're planning big, of course, and will reveal all later in the year. See you all from October 2nd-8th

International Sherry Week

Running between 6th to 12th November, ISW sees Jerez's delicious fortified wine come to the forefront of London's drinking scene. Expect events, tastings and delicious tapas meals to open your eyes to the delight of sherry!
