Victoria Moore's Top 5 Sip + Snack Pairings at LWW

We love Victoria Moore’s new book The Wine Dine Dictionary - a wonderful A to Z of wine to choose with food - so much so we have partnered with Foyles Charing Cross Road to bring you a fantastic offer on the book (more detail at the bottom of this piece), but in the meantime here are Victoria’s stand out picks from Sip + Snack selections across London Wine Week.

1. The New Zealand Cellar 

‘Grüner and guac
The very existence of the NZ Cellar – a small shop filled with superb wines that are otherwise hard to find - is a source of great joy. Here they smash it into the back of the net: the piercing scent of an NZ white is great with guacamole, and clever to go for unusual (down under) grüner in place of ubiquitous sav b.

2. Hawksmoor Spitalfields

I want to eat and drink all the Hawksmoor sips and snacks. All of them. I’ve had to go for the two my eye first settled on. This is a 100% cabernet franc wine from a superb appellation in the Loire. Expect some earthy sappiness but also leafy red berries to go with the rich rib nuggets.

3. Hawksmoor Borough

The slap of cold sea-spray; a tinge of iodine; the smell of just-baked sourdough…you’ll find those smells in the sherry and some of them in the bone bone marrow oysters too. But don’t think it, feel it. This one is all about atavism.

4. 28-50 Wine Workshop & Kitchen

Mini cheese and mini pulled pork burger with Vin Dorrance Simply Rouge
The heft of this Cape syrah & mourvèdre blend finds a home in the rich intensity of the mini burgers.

5. 8 Hoxton Square

Riesling and squid
The delicate lime and minerals of Austrian riesling will cut cleanly through the garlicky, creamy aioli and the squeeze of citrus works nicely with the squid. Think of each mouthful of wine refreshing your palate so you can eat more, and taste it all better.
