London’s best wine filled neighbourhood

We guarantee it’s not where you’d expect…

When the wine thirst sets in and you’re debating where to head to spend the evening quaffing the good stuff, it’s a fair assumption that Marylebone isn’t top of the list. Ever reminded as we are of the vinous delights of East London – at the top of its game with trend-setting somms giving us an array of brilliant contemporary wine bars – it’s easy to overlook the classic charm of W1’s most fashionable neighbourhood and its smattering of fantastic wine haunts each within spitting distance of the next. All have delicious small plate menus, glorious décor, and lengthy wine lists to cater for your every whim.

Start at…

The Providores & Tapa Room

Your pit stop for your first glass of wine and a tasty morsel… head to The Tapa Room – a stylish café & wine bar serving new Zealand wines with tapas… the perfect place for a zingy white wine and some pimientos to start your evening.

Head to…

Blandford Comptoir

The newest venture from Xavier Rousset (Texture, 28°-50°), this ‘community hub’ has a 250 strong wine list that is constantly evolving with suggestions from their locals and regulars. A charming space with a Mediterranean influence – even Jay Rayner sang it praises so it must be worth a visit.

Social Wine & Tapas

Jason Atherton’s glorious wine bar has become something of an institution at the DrinkUp office – it’s decadent, it’s delicious, you’ll go there for one glass and some cheese and roll out a few hours later feeling like the cat that got the cream. You’ll need your big boy pants and your credit card but you won’t be disappointed.

Still not convinced? You’ll also find outposts of 28°-50° and Vinoteca, an exclusively Greek list at Opso, newly opened and utterly charming Clarette and a delicious French deli-cum-wine bar Le Vieux Comptoir. As we said, London’s best kept wino secret… See you there.
