Newly launched for the summer, Peg + Patriot’s cocktail menu is all about democracy in action. As the bar team work up delicious drinks under various categories including Strong and Sour they vote to feature the top three on the menu. As creation is an ongoing process in the Bethnal Green bar the top three can change at any point if a tastier cocktail in invented.
That said we’re pretty sure these two gems are going nowhere.
Naked Sazerac – red bitters, maple, grape, rye, lemon zested.
A clear Sazerac, this strong cocktail is made using Belvedere vodka, Peychauds distillate, absinthe, champagne syrup and maple. It’s slightly spiced, with a lighter mouthfeel than your classic cognac or whiskey Sazerac but with the same structure of the cocktail.
Thomas Wolsey – ricotta, strawberry, coconut, grape
Inspired by the traditional summer snack of strawberries and cream, this cocktails is made with coconut water, wine, sour cherry juice, ricotta distillate (made with an ethanol blend and put through the rotavap), lemon and finally carbonated with a soda stream. It has a distinctly sweet finish but the initial taste is slightly sour with gentle effervescence and natural strawberry.
Wish we tried: Kings Stones – grapes, oyster shell, juniper, bitter orange.
