October 2015

London Cocktail Week has seen its highest attendance figures to date and made waves around the global cocktail industry – proving that London still sits at the top of the pack when it comes to cocktails. This year saw a move of the central Hub to Soho’s Vinyl Factory – where visitors could spend an evening immersed in luxury and innovation at The World Class London Cocktail Week Hub – and the creation of an entire London Cocktail Week Village, featuring 32 pop-up bars and drinks experiences under one roof at Old Spitalfields Market.

A host of industry luminaries flew in from around the world, both to visit and take part in the festival – from master distillers and educators to celebrated bar owners and some of the world’s best bartenders – with our capital setting the scene for what has now grown to be the biggest global cocktail event of its kind.

The event saw a record 275 bars take part with specially created LCW signature serves and ‘snack & sip’ pairings available for wristband wearers all week. Full attendance numbers are still being accumulated but initial figures show more than 25,000 festival-goers took part this year, with more than £500,000 in revenue generated for London’s bar scene.

As well as being a spectacular host, London also came out on top at the World’s 50 Best Bars Awards, held on the Thursday evening of LCW, with Artesian at The Langham Hotel taking the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, and beat teams of the best bartenders from Paris, New York and Singapore to steal the ‘World’s Best’ crown at the 24 Hour Bar Build event hosted by Bacardi Brown Forman Brands and Patrón on the Saturday night of the festival.

Festival Director Siobhan Payne said: “With more consumers getting involved than ever before and an unprecedented response from the global drinks trade this year, London Cocktail Week is going from strength to strength – more proof that London really is the cocktail capital of the world”.

Having just celebrated its sixth year, London Cocktail Week is the biggest drinks festival in the UK and has grown to attract record numbers. It was created as a chance to open the doors to some of London’s best venues and showcase the best bartenders and spirits brands to an increasingly large number of willing consumers. The festival comes from the same team behind London Wine Week, now in its third year, and London Beer Week, which launched in February 2015.

These all sit under the Drink Up.London umbrella, which is headed up by London Cocktail Week founder Hannah Sharman-Cox.
