Punch Room at The Edition
The London Edition, 10 Berners Street, London, W1T 3NP
Order: Glass of red. Tequila. I go here to see Davide and his team. We run the restaurant in the EDITION but I want to get away from work so I always head to the Punch Room. Davide is a great host and apart from his constantly shoving tequila (or “Mexican grappa”) at me it’s one of my favourite places to have a glass of wine and laugh at Andy Shannon in a suit. He thinks he’s people!
Oskar's Bar at Dabbous
39 Whitfield Street, London, W1T 2SF
Mon-Sat 5.30pm-11pm Sun CLOSED
Order: Einstok white ale and a shot of bourbon. One of the places I really identified with when I came to London and was working at Pollen Street Social. Both bars are in restaurants, both menus are fairly pun heavy and we both do a lot of stuff in house. Me and Oskar hit it off straight away. Well, I liked him anyway, he may well have thought I was a tit. He makes really great drinks, has a healthy distain for bullshit and is alarmingly honest. He came to one of our restaurants once and when I asked how it was he said “meh, pretty average”. I like that. You need honest people, it makes you try harder.
Cocktail Trading Co. Brick Lane
68 Bethnal Green Road, London, E1 6GQ
Mon-Wed 4pm-11.30pm Thu-Sat 4pm-Midnight Sun 4pm-10.30pm
Order: Martini. Cold as you like. Yeah I know it isn’t strictly in Fitzrovia (it isn’t even slightly) but I love these guys, and I am happy that it’s still possible to do what they are doing in London without 10 million pounds. They make solid drinks and have great service but it’s all about the guys really. I like going to see what stupid stuff they have planned and talking to Olly to see where he has woken up recently. Really nice guys.
